The Rockets have started this season’s competition in great style taking 10 points from their opening 4 games. The team showed great character in gaining the results, at times having to dig deep to come out on top. There’s still more to come from this squad! The match reports are below.
Villa Rockets 4-0 Leeds PFC
Villa Rockets started their Premiership Campaign against the promising, newly promoted Leeds PFC. The Rockets got off to a flying start, scoring 2 goals in the opening 5 minutes through a combination of fine finishing from Bubba and accurate delivery from Dan. Towards the end of the first half, Villa took their foot of the gas, allowing Leeds to create some dangerous chances. As the second half continued, Bubba drove through the Leeds Defence, which resulted in an own goal from Leeds. Villa continued to see out the match and sealed the victory with a goal from Max, right on the full time whistle!

St Georges Knights 2-3 Villa Rockets
Villa Rockets second game was against the defensively solid St Georges Knights. Villa started very slowly and got caught out by two counter attacks resulting in 2 goals conceded in quick succession. However, as the game continued Villa clawed a goal back through a charging run from Bubba, giving The Rockets some hope going into the second half. Villa started positively in the second half, regaining control of the game. The Rockets showed a lot of character and through a cleverly executed set piece, Max crossed an accurate ball across the box to find Dan, who fired in the equaliser! Into the last 5 minutes, Villa were awarded a free kick. Bubba passed to Dan, who placed the ball between the defenders to seal the victory!

Villa Rockets 1-0 Brighton & Hove Albion
Villa Rockets faced Brighton in their third game. Throughout the game, Villa dominated the match, limiting Brighton to a few chances. The Rockets continued to create chance after chance and were finally rewarded through a well worked display of passing. Bubba got the ball to Dan, who reverse spun a dazzling cross towards Matt, who timed the finish to perfection. Villa continued to dominate in the second half and comfortably saw the game out, resulting in a 1-0 victory.

Northern Thunder 1-1 Villa Rockets
The Final game of the weekend saw Villa Rockets face three time premiership winners Northern Thunder. Villa started brightly, creating numerous chances in the oppositions half as well as limiting Thunder’s opportunities. As the first half continued, the game became quite cagey and tight as both teams battled for possession. Villa ended the half at 0-0. As the second half commenced, Thunder battled hard, creating chances through slick passing, but The Rockets were equally as fired up! Thunder won a set piece, which resulted in a well timed finish from an accurate cross. However, Villa didn’t give up and continued to push Thunder and their efforts were rewarded. Dan passed the ball to the edge of the oppositions’ box which found Matt who with a reverse spin hit the ball between the defenders. The ball then fell to Bubba who powerfully drove the ball into the goal, giving Villa a well deserved equaliser!
